Lucy is a writer and illustrator, and executive art director of picture books, middle grade books, and young adult novels for Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, and Paula Wiseman books. She is the art director for numerous New York Times and international bestsellers from authors and illustrators including Jenny Han, Morgan Matson, Tommy Wallach, Becca Fitzpatrick, Ben Clanton, and Jon Klassen. She proudly serves as both art director and illustrator for Stuart Gibbs's New York Times bestselling middle grade mysteries.
Lucy made her critically-acclaimed author-illustrator debut in 2016 with her picture book A Hungry Lion, or A Dwindling Assortment of Animals, which was a finalist for the 2016 Governor General's award, an ALA Notable Book, and an Irma Black Honor book. She next wrote and illustrated Stumpkin, a Publisher’s Weekly Best Book of 2018, and also an Irma Black Honor Book. She is the illustrator of This Is Not a Valentine, written by Carter Higgins. In 2019 she has illustrated two forthcoming books—Truman, written by Jean Reidy; and The Love Letter, written by Anika Aldamuy Denise.
Born in Canada, she is the youngest of six children, and her family lived in an actual log cabin. She grew up in Cortland, New York, and she now lives with her little family in Brooklyn, New York. Her favorite food is the french fry.
